Omicron Vs Cold

Is a runny nose a cold or covid?

The symptoms of Omicron are similar to those of other seasonal respiratory viruses, such as influenza (flu). All of these viruses are now prevalent, and you should stay at home if you are unwell. If you are worried about the infection, Omicron vs covid vs flu, only a test can determine whether you have COVID-19 or the flu, rather than a typical cold.

Omicron vs covid vs flu

As we all know, the World Health Organization's Technical Advisory Group on Virus Evolution, designated the COVID variant "Omicron" on November 26, 2021. The latest COVID version is also known as B.1.1.529 while the flu is an infectious respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and, occasionally, the lungs.

People who have the flu commonly have some or all of the following symptoms, while people with COVID-19 report a change in or loss of smell or taste more frequently. Diarrhoea is an add-on symptom of the Omicron variant & is more common in young children than in older individuals.

FLU vs OMICRON

In comparison to a regular cold, these symptoms appear abruptly in flu patients, with the following frequency:
  • Chills: These are fairly common.
  • Congestion: Occasional cough is common
  • Fatigue: Fever, usually lasts 3-4 days.
  • Headache: Rather common.
  • Throat discomfort: Sometimes
Separately, COVID-19 instances feature indicators signaling the need for urgent care, which can sometimes be distinguished from early flu signs and symptoms, such as:
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Chest discomfort or pressure that persists
  • Disorientation
  • Inability to wake up or remain awake
  • Skin, lips, or nail beds that are pale, grey, or blue in tone
Let’s have a close look at omicron infection;

The omicron form is the most infectious (transmissible) of all previous variants.
  • Omicron has a 2–3-day incubation time (from exposure to symptoms). As a result, if you were exposed yesterday, your test result today may be erroneous.
  • Once symptoms have developed, tests are more accurate.
  • Omicron symptoms might last 3-7 days. Asymptomatic instances are possible in several cases.
  • Because Omicron flourishes in the nose and throat, symptoms may include a sore throat, nasal congestion, or a runny nose. This might also explain why its more contagious: there are a lot of virus particles in the airways, which are readily aerosolized and transmitted.
Infectious flu symptoms can begin as early as a day, before any symptoms appear and can persist anywhere from 3 to 7 days for most people, depending on their age and health. Older patients, newborns, and those with compromised immune systems may be contagious for more than a week.

Unfortunately, the duration of COVID-19 illness is still being researched. Cases of "long COVID" have been documented to extend weeks to months after infection, regardless of the degree of symptoms of the patient's condition. Patients are also at risk of problems such as blood clots in the veins and arteries of the lungs, heart, legs, or brain, as well as the development of multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS), which might necessitate hospitalisation and ongoing treatment.

Increasing immunity does not necessitate the purchase of costly supplements. You can boost your immunity with simple natural foods that you may already have in your home. Simple, well-balanced meals prepared with high-quality products, oils, a variety of spices, and within the framework of nature are potent immune boosters in and of themselves.

Do not get anxious! Precautions and safety protocol can help us beat Omicron. Check out these general and physical precautions for preventing covid infection:
  • Wear a mask and follow physical separation, respiratory and hand hygiene.
  • Gargle with warm water added with turmeric and salt. Gargling can also be done with water heated with Triphala or Yashtimadhu.
  • Nasal instillation/use of herbal infused therapeutic oil, for example, Anu taila or Shadbindu Taila, or plain oil, for example, sesame, coconut, or cow's ghee, more than once each day, particularly before going out and after coming home.
  • A healthy night's sleep of 6 to 8 hours is recommended.
  • Moderate physical activity is recommended, as is Yoga and meditation.
  • Once a day, inhale steam with Ajwain or Pudina.
  • For drinking purposes, use warm water or a hot infusion of herbs such as ginger, coriander, basil, or cumin seeds, among others.
Social distancing and wearing masks are important, and those measures have certainly played a key role in keeping many of us healthy. But another point that cannot be overlooked is that the best way to protect yourself from any germ or virus or the new omicron variant is to boost your immunity by giving your body the key nutrients along with Ayurvedic herbs.
  • Increase immunity for covid with herbal formulations like Shilajit, Giloy, Ashwagandha, etc. Due to their magical properties, all have shown promising outcomes in fever, dengue, chikungunya, gout, and now even in-home confined corona cases, new omicron variant cases, post corona, or diabetic patients.

  • Another great way to give your immunity system a helping hand is with Ayurvedic immunity boosters, which contributes to immune defence by supporting various cellular functions of both innate and adaptive immunity.
  • Immunity boosting drinks at home like turmeric-root immunity booster kadha, ginger + tulsi drink, coriander decoction, Vitamin C rich Giloy juice also contributes to immunity by its role in immune processes.
  • Ayurvedic Kadha for covid combination boosts one's resistance to the omicron infection by improving liver function and ensuring unrestricted blood flow. Kadha recipe containing tulsi, black pepper, cardamom, lemongrass leaves and dry ginger powder is very unique and tailor-made with excellent results giving research.

Following the spread of Omicron, it is time to make the necessary lifestyle modifications and add foods rich in antioxidants into our diet. Experts recommend that individuals should improve their immune systems since they are our first line of defence against the highly modified strain and minimize the chance of illness.
