Regional Key Account Manager - Modern Trade

Reports To: Head- Modern Trade

.   Key Account Management:

·    Build and maintain strong relationships with key modern trade accounts focusing on business growth, category management and customer satisfaction.

·    Collaborate with key accounts to develop joint business plans to drive business growth, promotions and marketing activities to maximize sales opportunities, and enhance brand visibility.

·    Monitor and analyze sales performance data, identifying opportunities for growth and proactively addressing challenges.

·    Negotiate and manage contracts, terms, and conditions with key accounts, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.

2.   Sales Strategy and Planning

·    Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for modern trade channels, including retain chains, supermarkets, hypermarkets and departmental stores aligning with the company's objectives and sales targets.

·    Identify market opportunities, trends, and customer preferences within modern trade, providing insights to guide product positioning and sales strategies.

·    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective implementation of sales plans and promotional activities.

·    Define sales objectives, targets and KPIs, aligning them with overall business goals.

3.   Sales Forecasting and Performance Tracking:

·    Develop accurate sales forecasts and budgets for modern trade channels, closely monitoring performance against targets.

·    Analyze sales data and market trends, providing insights and recommendations to optimize sales growth and improve operational efficiency.

·    Regularly report on sales performance, KPIs, and market trends to senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and action plans.

4.   Business Development:

·    Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within modern trade channels, including new retail partners, expansion into new regions, and product placement strategies.

·    Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify potential threats and opportunities, adapting strategies accordingly.

·    Collaborate with the marketing team to develop channel-specific marketing campaigns, promotions, and initiatives to drive sales growth.

5.   Cross-functional Collaboration:

. Operating all Schemes & Promotional Activities (Marketing & Sales) as per prior approvals and discussed during the monthly review meetings with MT Head

. Responsible for Controlling Dominant shelf space in the Key Accounts

. Managing health of distributor channel on a monthly basis.

. Managing a team of SO, merchandisers and promoters

6. Financial Responsibilities:

. Documentation of outlet expenses (damages, trade schemes, promotional expenses, visibility expenses) on a monthly basis for audit purposes,

. Settling distributor and outlet claims (within stipulated timeframe)

7. Distributor Responsibilities:

. Ensure all planned distributors in the zone are appointed in time and are operational through proper coordination.

. Evaluate the performance of the distributors

. Responsible for destroying damaged/ expired goods in physical presence at distributor premises with prior approval.

. Managing health of distributor channel on a monthly basis.


. Harnessing existing relationships with large modern trade accounts.

·  Proven track record of driving sales growth and achieving targets in a key account management role.

·  Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills.

·  Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and market insights for strategic decision-making.

. Handled regions ( 2-3 states) for MT business
