Healthy, Shiny & Voluminous Hair!

Lifestyle Practices that Impact our Hair for Good

To cure the dullness and dryness of our hair, we need to undertake certain steps like eating well, sleeping on time, etc. Let's have a look!

  1. Know your Hair Type

Before selecting any Ayurvedic product for your hair, it is best to know your hair type. The doshas determine our hair type and health, i.e., Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Here's how you can classify them.

  • Vata Hair Type: This hair type tends to be thin and straight with high porosity. This dosha causes dryness in your scalp, leading to frizzy, untamed hair.
  • Pitta Hair Type: Pitta hair types tend to be wavy and thick. Premature greying, scalp build-up and clogged follicles are caused by this dosha.
  • Kapha Hair Type: This hair type tends to be thick, lustrous, and curly. However, if this dosha is dominant, you can experience itching, hair fall, greasy scalp, etc.
  1.   Choose the Right Hair Oil & Shampoo

Ayurvedic herbs calm the aggravated doshas. Thus, if you choose the wrong oil shampoo, it will worsen your hair condition, causing imbalance.

  • Vata dosha: Vata dosha hair types are dry and need moisturization. Thus, look for herbs that nourish your scalp and hair like Onion, Rosepea, Krishna Tila, Ashwagandha, etc.
  • Pitta dosha: Pitta dosha hair types are normal. They are neither too dry nor too oily. Thus, herbs like Yashtimadhu, Japa, Nimba, Karanja, etc., will suit this hair type the best. These ingredients will keep the Pitta dosha balanced and give you medium-density lustrous hair.
  • Kapha dosha: Kapha dosha hair type is oily. Thus, look for herbs like Grapeseed, Methika, Karpoora, Kushta, etc., in oils and shampoos. These ingredients will help restore the natural shine and vibrancy of your hair. They will also help in regulating sebum production in the scalp.
  1. Oiling is a Must!

Oiling is a rejuvenation tool that regenerates the hair follicles and extricates aggravated doshas accumulated in the scalp. A regular scalp massage will promote healthy, strong, and lustrous hair.

  • Vata Hair Type: This hair type needs intense moisturization. Regular oiling is a must if you have a Vata hair type. Oil your hair before you wash them. Look for herbs like Bhringraj, Shatavari, Ashwagandha, etc.
  • Pitta Hair Type: People having Pitta hair types do not need intense moisturization. But sometimes, the scalp can look dry. Therefore, oiling 2 days a week is acceptable for Pitta hair type. Go for herbs like Amla, Brahmi, Hibiscus, etc.
  • Kapha Hair Types: If you have Kapha hair type, there isn't much need for oiling. Once a week, oiling is enough. But don't worry if you don't oil at all, as your scalp has enough oil. But if at all you oil your hair, apply oil with herbs like Triphala, Shikaki, Reetha, Methi, etc. This will make your hair healthy.

For oiling your hair, you can use Methi Bhringraj Oil for Hair Growth by TAC. This hair oil is infused with Ayurvedic herbs that can reduce premature pigment loss and greying. It treats your hair woes, thereby giving you shiny, lustrous hair.

  1.   Wash Your Hair

Excess oil, dirt, and grime can damage your hair in a significant way. Regular hair washes with Ayurvedic herbs can clear up the build-up and breathe life into your hair. Here's how to wash your hair if you have either of the three doshas.

  • Vata Hair Type: For Vata hair type, you need intense nourishment. Thus, it is best to apply hair oil for at least 12 hours before shampooing your hair.
  • Pitta Hair Type: If you have a Pitta hair type, you first need to apply oil for at least 2-3 hours. Let your hair condition a bit. Afterwards, you can wash it off with an Ayurvedic shampoo.
  • Kapha Hair Type: For Kapha hair type, you can apply hair oil. Make sure to leave the oil for 30 minutes and not more than that! Wash your hair afterwards with a sulfate-free shampoo.

Now, to wash your hair after oiling, it is best to choose Methi Shampoo with Bhringraj and Natural Keratin by TAC.
